A DYNAMIC SECTOR
A number of big-name chains including global brand Hilton Hotels, UK pub group Fuller’s and Merlin Entertainment’s Legoland Windsor Resort call Berkshire home and offer a wide range of hospitality roles from kitchen and catering assistants, to waiters and waitresses, bar staff and chefs.
With a predominantly young workforce (just over 60% of the hospitality labour force nationally is under the age of 35), Berkshire’s hospitality industry offers a dynamic and social working environment for all.
The majority of those working within the sector are transient, that is, young people working in ‘elementary’ roles whilst studying or before pursuing a career in a different sector. Other permanent workers, however, successfully progress through the ranks into highly-skilled positions such as head chefs and managerial roles such as catering establishment managers.
